Robin Good's Master New Media: PC Remote Assistance Made Easy: The New Citrix GoToAssist Launches - Review

Tried it tonight. I also use GoToMyPC. They are both excellent. I am so happy that I can finally support other friends and family without having to pay the corporate rate for GoToAssist (which I can't do). Hopefully they will price it around what I pay for GoToMyPC. BTW, if you haven't attempted to cancel your GoToMyPC account, you are paying too much for it. They always cut the price in half to try to keep you.

GoToAssist Express wish list items from beta Users:

Product suffers from bare bones file transfer functions. Upgrade to emulate the gotomypc file transfer window, which features a side by side folder view well as a bidirectional folder sync capability

Add remote printing capability - another feature in GoToMyPC missing from GTExpress

Support internal definition of Customer identities; Maintain contact information (or active link to Outlook Contact Directory) including nickname Customer name, phone, notes, etc

Use Customer identity (Computer nickname) as session name. "Customer 73" doesn't cut it. Enasble one click connection/invite to non-unattended as well as Unattended customers. Add displayDisplay and edit Customer contact information in the GTExpress session window.

Personalize the support provider name. "Expert" conveys an annoying impression

Make default text in message body for Email invitations user maintainable

Allow multiple Experts accessing the same Customer (it's a meeting!)

Export session logs to .xls or tab format for analysis and billing; ODBC log access

Additional skin options for the black screen averse

Clipboard copy/paste between Expert and Customer desktops

Expanded send control character set, or send any control character
