Robin Good's Master New Media: Improve Web Pages Load Times: Practical Advice On How To Speed Up Your Site - The Pingdom Report

One very simple thing bloggers can do is reduce the number of posts per page. This can dramatically reduce page size when images are usually included in every post.

The other piece of advice I'd give is to get rid of all the clutter in sidebars (which has got worse with the popularity of 3 column designs and the proliferation of widgets of all description. We don't care where on the map your readers come from and we don't need to see avatars of all the people who've visited in the last week. I don't care what the weather is like where you live and I've got a clock on the wall so I don't need to use your nice JS timepiece.

And, unless you really are making more than the price of a cup of coffee per week, ditch the ads. For most of you, be honest, they are there to give the *impression* that your blog is popular enough to earn from when we all know that, with the exception of a small percentage of you, that just ain't the case!

Simplify! Your blog will look better and be easier to read and navigate.

    Less is more, baby! :)
